Product Description:
This exquisite Qing Dynasty porcelain temple vase is a museum-worthy statement piece, bursting with history and poetic beauty. Hand-painted with vibrant lotus blossoms, scrolling leaves, and a serene pond scene with ducks, it offers a glimpse into the symbolic richness of Chinese decorative arts. The vase is adorned with a pair of foo dog handles in a soft coral glaze, adding texture and regal character.
The bright famille rose palette (fencai) and the lotus + duck motif are consistent with Qing decorative styles, especially popular during the Guangxu reign (1875–1908)/late Qing dynasty.
The calligraphy on the reverse is hand-brushed and likely features a poetic inscription, artisans were expressing individual artistry more than imperial tribute.The base shows evidence of its past life as a lamp—there’s a drilled hole and gentle patina along the unglazed foot, adding to its story rather than taking away. A small chip on one foo dog head was repaired at some point, and a few faint hairline cracks radiate from the lamp hole at the bottom, all stable and consistent with its age.
A stunning anchor for an entry console, styled with stacked books or paired with a modern abstract painting for contrast. It also shines on its own as a sculptural focal point in a minimalist space. This would also be a show stopping lamp, combing art and function.
