This vibrant California landscape is the work of Peggy Olsen, a prolific painter celebrated for her bold, expressive interpretations of the West Coast terrain. After a full professional career, Olsen turned her focus to painting in 1986, launching a second act that spanned more than three decades. As a longtime artist member of the Carmel Art Association, she became known for her dynamic brushwork and distinctive sense of color.
In this original oil on board, Olsen presents a commanding eucalyptus tree rising from a warm, rolling landscape — a signature subject in her oeuvre. Her palette balances earthy reds and golds with cool blues and greens, evoking the drama and warmth of California’s natural scenery.
