The Beauty of Imperfection: How We Grade Vintage Furniture

CONDITION & CARE

At TTA, we believe that vintage and antique pieces should feel as good in your home as they look—and that starts with knowing exactly what you're getting.

Every piece we offer has lived a life before it arrived here, and part of the magic is in the stories those pieces carry. We take great care to describe and photograph them honestly, so you can feel confident in your purchase and fall in love with it for exactly what it is.

We’ve created a simple condition guide below to help you understand what kind of wear and character to expect. Please remember, all items are sold as-is, and we encourage you to reach out with any questions before making a purchase. Want more details or photos? We’re always happy to help—just send us a message.

Your home deserves pieces with soul, and we’re here to help you find them.

Our Condition Guide

Excellent
Nearly perfect. Very minimal or no signs of wear. A real gem.

Very Good
Gently lived-in, with light signs of age—like a faint surface scratch or a small scuff. Beautifully preserved.

Good
Shows its age in a lovely, honest way. Expect some visible wear such as dings, scratches, or marks, but still fully functional and full of charm.

Fair
Has significant signs of wear or aging. May need some TLC or repair. Ideal for those who love a project or the perfectly imperfect.

This vintage mid-century Henredon campaign-style chest is a beautiful example of a well-loved piece in good condition. It has its share of character—light scratches and dings along the edges and top surface—but that’s part of what we love about it. These little marks are part of its story, showing that it’s lived a life before landing here. Overall, it’s solid, stylish, and has so much life left to give.Photography by Laura Steffan
